Case against man accused of killing landscaper moving forward

PENN HILLS, Pa. — “He didn’t even get to meet our son.”

Those words came from Oshnaysua Mosley, the fiancé of Robert Higginbotham.

Higginbotham was shot and killed while on a landscaping job last summer in Penn Hills, along Mount Carmel Road.

Months after his death, Tracy Carpenter was arrested and charged with murder. After Friday’s preliminary hearing, the case is moving forward.

“I’m relieved that they are bringing attention to it, and it’s not going to go cold or unnoticed,” she added.

In court, prosecutors showed video from the day Higginbotham was killed.

In the video, you can see someone jump out of the landscaping truck. Then another person runs away, and police say it was Carpenter.

According to investigators, Carpenter shot Higginbotham multiple times.

“I just want to know why. I want to know what really happened. I want some real answers,” she said.

At this point, investigators haven’t released any information about a motive.
