PENN HILLS, Pa. — State leaders were at Turner’s Dairy in Penn Hills, to highlight Pennsylvania’s dairy industry.

The state has invested more than $50 million in dairy since 2015.

During the pandemic, Gov. Tom Wolf’s administration dedicated $20 million of relief money to farmers who lost milk, and to those who donated surplus dairy products.

“We know that food unites us, it fuels all of us and fuels Pennsylvania. The jobs, the farms, the innovation, the economy and the families,” said Pennsylvania Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding.

Pennsylvania is in seventh in the country in total milk production.

More than 500,000 cows produce 10 billion pounds of milk each year.
