Since the casino reopened on June 9, three employees have tested positive for the virus -- despite strict guidelines passed down by the health department.

However, the casino will remain open, and officials said everyone who has been in contact with that employee will be notified.

This latest case comes as Allegheny County has seen two straight days of record high numbers in new daily COVID-19 cases. Gov. Tom Wolf issued a new order Wednesday, requiring masks in all public spaces.

Rivers Casino has stopped all beverage service on the gaming floor until further notice following the health department’s order to cease on-site consumption of alcohol.

Casino officials issued the following statement following the third positive case:

“Rivers Casino Pittsburgh announced today that a cocktail server contracted COVID-19 while attending a social gathering off-property and unrelated to Rivers Casino. This individual last worked on June 30. The Allegheny County Health Department will contact Team Members or guests who were in close proximity to this individual. The Health Department maintains records of all positive cases in the county. All alcohol service at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh was discontinued on Monday, June 30, ahead of Allegheny County’s orders to cease on-site consumption of alcohol. Today, the casino has decided to eliminate all beverage service on the gaming floor until further notice.”
