Volunteer firefighter facing child pornography charges

FAYETTE COUNTY, Pa. — A Fayette County firefighter is facing dozens of charges, including possession of child pornography.

Police arrested 22-year-old Erik Eagle, of East Millsboro, on Tuesday. He is a volunteer firefighter in Luzerne Township.

According to a criminal complaint, investigators found videos of children engaging in sex acts. Eagle confessed to having at least 2,000 pictures on his laptop and cellphone of children between the ages of 7 and 14, police said.

Luzerne Township Volunteer Fire Company Chief Ryan Nichols is disgusted by Eagle’s actions and said Eagle is not a good representation of the department.

“It makes me sick. It makes me angry. What the hell was he thinking?” Nichols said. “(He) seemed like a harmless kid … it made the whole fire company sick.”

Eagle is facing dozens of charges, including disseminating photos or film of child sexual acts, child pornography and criminal use of a communication facility.

“We don't promote that in the fire service. First thing we heard about it, we terminated his membership. He's not allowed on this property,” Nichols said.

Eagle posted bail and is scheduled to appear before a judge on May 15.
