The woman told police she hired Pirl in October and gave him several checks over several months to purchase materials, but by June he still hadn’t started the work he was contracted to do.
Pirl would tell the woman he would start work within days of receiving money, but never did. He made up several reasons why, including deaths in his family, and that he had had a heart attack, according to court documents obtained by TribLIVE.com.
Pirl has been accused of home improvement fraud in the past. In April, he was charged for taking more than $41,000 for three remodleing jobs he never started, according to TribLIVE.com.
