GREENSBURG, Pa. — A mother accused of abandoning her children to help her fugitive boyfriend is now in custody.
Tiffany Jackson was arrested Friday at a motel in Greensburg.
Police say Jackson left her children, including a 9-month-old, alone in her Pitcairn home so she could help her boyfriend outrun the law. A 16-year-old called a relative for help.
“The children were actually a little upset,” said Scott Farally, the Pitcairn police chief. ”They were wondering where their mother was, like any small child.”
Jackson’s boyfriend, Raheem Harvey, was also taken into custody Friday.
“Tiffany, what do you have to say about the charges? Anything you want to say to your kids?” Lori Houy asked as Jackson was led into district court in Pitcairn.
Jackson didn’t respond.

Police said a tip led them to the motel where they found Jackson and Harvey. They were taken into custody after a brief foot chase.
Court papers obtained by Channel 11 said Jackson texted the 16-year-old saying she had to take Harvey to his mother’s and would be gone for a while.
Police said Jackson knew her boyfriend had two warrants out for his arrest, for simple assault and a parole violation, and was driving with him to Philadelphia to avoid apprehension.
Both Jackson and Harvey are in jail.
Jackson’s children are in protective custody.
