PITTSBURGH — A Clairton woman is facing charges after police say she pushed another person out of a vehicle and drove over her in the East Hills neighborhood of Pittsburgh, before speeding off.

Verneisha Reddix, 37, of Clairton, was charged with felony aggravated assault while driving under the influence, DUI and related charges after the incident at the intersection of Bennett Street and Tokay Street around 1:40 a.m. Sunday.

According to the criminal complaint, Reddix and the victim were having an argument in the front of the vehicle, when she pushed the victim out of the vehicle onto the road and drove off. A backseat passenger reported hearing a few bumps and realized that Reddix had driven over the victim.

Police said an officer saw a vehicle drive off at high speeds before he turned around and found the woman in the street. The officer aided the woman until EMS arrived and took her to a local hospital in critical condition. Police said the victim suffered a punctured lung and some bruising and was at last check in stable condition at the hospital.

Police were able to locate the vehicle shortly after, and say that Reddix smelled of alcohol and declined field sobriety and blood draw tests.
