Jay-Z says he wasn't dissing Kanye in Meek Mill song

Jay-Z is denying he dissed Kanye West in his verse of Meek Mill's song, "What's Free." The Root reported that the song comes from Meek Mill's "Champions" album, which was released Nov. 30.

In the song, the rapper says, “No red hat, don’t Michael and Prince me and Ye/They separate you when you got Michael and Prince’s DNA/I ain’t one of these house (N-word) you bought/My house like a resort, my house bigger than yours/My spou – c’mon, man.”

The "red hat" reference was assumed by many listeners to be referencing West supporting President Donald Trump and wearing a Make America Great Again hat. Jay said that's not the case in a rare tweet.

“The line clearly meant don’t pit me against my brothers no matter what our differences are (red hat) now go pick up Meek album,” he wrote. “Drake and Meek on there together.”

Variety reported that West replied "Throne 2" with an emoji of a man shrugging. The two previously released a joint album, "Watch the Throne," in 2011.
