GRAND FORKS, N.D. — University of North Dakota football fans expect bison when the Fighting Hawks travel to face rival North Dakota State this weekend. They did not expect to see a moose on the loose inside the football stadium.
University of North Dakota police Capt. Tracy Meidinger told KVLY that a moose wandered on campus Tuesday, eventually trotting around the turf of Memorial Stadium.
Police then sent a tweet to warn students to be careful.
Police received a call at 8 a.m. Tuesday about a moose roaming near the university's High Performance Center, KVLY reported. The animal then trotted over to the football field, the television station.
Campus officials are waiting for a game warden to remove the moose, KVLY reported. Meidinger said the situation was contained by 8:30 a.m., the Grand Forks Herald reported.
