6-year-old inspires others with ABCs of career opportunities

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 6-year-old boy from Tennessee has gained attention online for a creative rendition of an alphabet song.

Sam White and his father, Bobby White, uploaded a video to Facebook showcasing Robert’s lyrical skills in what they’re calling the #YouCanBeABCs.

While Sam sings along, his dad mimics a beat in the background.

The song’s lyrics, written by the father-son duo, inspire both children and adults to achieve whatever career they can dream of — be it an architect, a biochemist, a kindergarten teacher, a federal agent or even a quantum physicist.

I’m penning this as the #YouCanBeABCs with Sam. Literally stopped him from drinking a smoothie to film this. In addition to being the co-writer, I think Sam deserves credit for choreography. 🤣🤣 #keepdreaming #kids 😍 (for the record, it’s all memorized. He’s looking at the camera - not a teleprompter)

So far, more than 7 million people have watched the video, WHBQ reported.

“When my husband and son wrote this song they weren’t doing it with the intention of going viral,” Sam’s mother, Stephanie White, told the news station. “They were doing something because he was teaching Sam about different careers and not just careers with more generic names, being able to see careers with their branches.”

And what does Sam want to be when he grows up?

“I want to be an architect, a governor or a president,” he said.

“I’m just really proud,” Bobby White told WHBQ. “He makes us really proud and now a lot of people are saying with their friends and people who follow us on Facebook have been saying the whole while he’s just a real joy.”
