Jesse Jackson, 79, and his wife had been hospitalized since Aug. 21, WGN reported. He had received his first dose of the vaccine during a publicized event where he urged others to get it. His wife had not been vaccinated because of a preexisting condition.

Jackson has tested negative for the virus after treatment and was moved to a rehabilitation center to receive occupational and physical therapy for Parkinson’s disease, NBC News reported.
