NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Country music group Rascal Flatts announced it was skipping Wednesday night’s CMA Awards after a positive coronavirus test result.
Thirty minutes into Wednesday’s broadcast, the group posted on social media that it would not be performing, The Tennessean reported. An unidentified member of the band had a positive test, the group wrote on Instagram and Twitter.
The band, nominated as the 2020 vocal group of the year, was scheduled to perform “Bless this Broken Road,” The Tennessean reported.
“As much as we were looking forward to performing at the CMA Awards tonight, we will no longer be attending in the interest of everyone’s safety,” the band wrote. “We miss y’all and stay safe!”
The band’s announcement came an hour after Lady A also said they would not attend the awards due to COVID-19 concerns, WKRN reported.
On Monday, singer Lee Brice announced he had tested positive for COVID-19 and was forced to skip the CMA Awards show.
