It was the perfect birthday gift.
A Detroit woman who received a scratch-off ticket as a birthday gift won $1 million playing the Michigan Lottery’s Jumbo Cash instant game, according to Michigan Lottery officials.
The woman, who chose to remain anonymous, was given the $10 ticket by her brother, who bought it at Parkway Foods in Detroit, lottery officials said in a news release. Thursday.

“My brother buys me a Lottery ticket for my birthday every year,” the 68-year-old woman said in a statement. “I scratched the ticket, and when I saw I won $1 million, I was in complete shock.
“I am happy when I win $20, so winning a $1 million prize is an amazing feeling.”
The lucky winner chose to receive her prize as a lump sum of about $634,000, lottery officials said. The woman said she plans to buy a new car and share the winnings with her family.
