Man arrested after gun found in quesadilla

PICAYUNE, Miss. — A passenger was arrested during a traffic stop last week in Picayune, Mississippi, police say.

In a news release, the Picayune Police Department said on Thursday just after 12:30 p.m., officers with the department’s neighborhood enhancement team made a traffic stop on East Canal Street.

During the traffic stop, Devin P. Mitchell, the passenger, reportedly hid a handgun inside a quesadilla inside a Taco Bell bag, according to WLOX.

Officers searched the car and found methamphetamine, liquid heroin, and drug paraphernalia that were in distribution amounts, according to the news outlet.

Mitchell was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence, possession of a weapon by a felon, and possession of paraphernalia, police said.

The driver, Olivia Neff, was cited for “disregard for a traffic device,” according to police. She was released at the scene.
