Worcester Police Department in a news release said that Friday morning around 2 a.m., officers were called out to a Shoe Supply store at 1114 Pleasant Street for a break-in. Multiple units responded to the area and once officers arrived on the scene, the suspects had fled the area.

WPD said during their investigation, they learned that the suspects had allegedly shattered the lock on the store and made their way in. The suspects then allegedly stole merchandise and put the items in a car that was parked outside.

Three of the suspects were quickly located. MSP helped WPD in pursuit of Yorbis Peguero, 24, who allegedly took off in a 2010 Mercedes-Benz E350 sedan on Route 146, officials said, according to WFXT.

Peguero reportedly continued to drive eastbound on Interstate 90 for around 20 miles before MSP deployed a tire deflation device, according to WFXT. Peguero allegedly tried to pull over but crashed off the highway while trying to do so. That was when Peguero reportedly ran into the woods.

At about 4:20 a.m., an MSP helicopter with an infrared camera had reportedly located Peguero hiding in a large tree about 25 to 30 feet off the ground, according to a news release from MSP. The tree was in the backyard of a house.

Officers and a K9 team were directed by the flight crew to the tree, according to MSP.

MSP troopers and Southborough Officers reportedly commanded Peguero to come down. He complied and was taken into custody. Peguero was transferred to WPD for the investigation into the break-in. MSP said that Peguero will be summonsed for additional motor vehicle charges related to the pursuit.

According to WFXT, the three other suspects have been identified by police for their alleged involvement in the break-in. Raffy Santons, 18; Jorge German, 20; and Luis Cruz, 20.

Peguero has reportedly been charged with willful and malicious destruction of property, breaking and entering during the night to commit a felony, larceny from a building, and a fugitive from justice on a court warrant, according to WPD.

The stolen items were later recovered, WPD said. The investigation is ongoing. No further information has been released.
