Mexican authorities reportedly find 4 human skulls in package being shipped to South Carolina

MEXICO CITY — Authorities in Mexico reportedly found four skulls in a package that was being shipped to South Carolina.

Mexico’s National Guard said, according to The Associated Press, that officers were called to an airport in the city of Queretaro after an X-ray reportedly detected “strange shapes in a cardboard box.”

When the box was opened, officers reportedly found four human skulls wrapped in foil and plastic, according to the AP.

Mexico’s National Guard said that the shipment may violate Mexican laws on the handling of corpses regardless of how the skulls were obtained or if they were meant for studying medicine, according to the AP.

The box was in the process of being sent to Manning, South Carolina, from Apaztingan, in Michoacan state, according to the AP.

Michoacan is reportedly one of Mexico’s most violent states, according to the AP. The city of Apatzingan is reportedly dominated by the Viagras cartel.
