8-year-old boy, teenage sister killed after shots fired into New Jersey home

TRENTON, N.J. — An 8-year-old boy and his 16-year-old sister are dead after they were struck by gunfire in New Jersey, authorities said.

According to the Trentonian and WPVI-TV, the incident occurred about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at a home on Mulberry Street in Trenton. Someone opened fire into the home’s second story, killing the children, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Authorities have not released the suspect’s name, the news outlets reported.

No further information about the shooting, which remains under investigation by Trenton police and the Mercer County Homicide Task Force, was immediately available, according to the outlets.
