According to Portland Fire & Rescue, crews responded to a residence in the Lents neighborhood of southeastern Portland shortly before 12:30 p.m. PST, KOIN-TV reported.

The fire engine had to change its route when a different downed tree blocked the way, fire officials said in a news release.

The engine arrived to find a “large tree resting on a home with damage to the structure,” the release stated.

Firefighters were unable to enter the home through the front door but were able to gain entry through sliding doors at the back of the residence, The Oregonian reported.

Firefighters found the resident pinned against his recliner and were able to free him by moving the chair backward, according to the newspaper.

The man was able to walk out of his home and into the garage, where first responders assessed his condition, the news release stated. The man suffered minor injuries but was not hospitalized, firefighters said.
