According to the CSP, Roberto Jaramillo Herrera of Forney, Texas, was towing sleds carrying four children behind his 2018 Ford F-250 pickup on a “snow-packed” county road, The Denver Post reported.

One of the children flew off one of the sleds, each of which was affixed to the rear of the truck with tow straps, and Jaramillo Herrera stopped the vehicle. Ayleen Herrera, who was on a separate sled, was unable to stop, slid into the rear of the Ford, struck the undercarriage and slid underneath the truck, KMGH reported.

According to CSP, the child was pronounced dead a short time later, but no other injuries were reported.

Neither alcohol nor drug use appear to be contributing factors in the crash, which remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed at this time, The Denver Post reported.
