UPMC to raise minimum wage to starting employees to $15

PITTSBURGH — UPMC employees will be receiving a bump in pay over the next few years.

The medical enterprise announced that minimum starting salaries for entry-level positions at most Pittsburgh facilities will be increased to $15 per hour by January 2021.%

Some of the facilities include UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside hospital, UPMC Mercy, Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC, Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC and many other facilities and sites.

“We review the market each year to ensure that our salary ranges are competitive and we are committed to rewarding our strong-performing employees with merit increases on an annual basis,” UPMC senior vice president of Human Resources.

Average service worker salaries increase as well. The pay rate change is expected to begin January 1, 2017.
