PITTSBURGH — The U.S. military has determined that geese slammed into the windscreen of a helicopter being flown by local Air Force pilot Sean Ruane.
The deadly crash happened in England in January.
Officials said the helicopter was flying over a grass-covered marshland, and the birds were likely startled by the noise.
Ruane was a graduate of Montour High School. He was a husband, father and Pittsburgh sports enthusiast.
"Sean always smiled. He lit up a room when he walked into it," said his aunt, Audrey Szucs, when Channel 11 talked to her in January.
