Called the Motobot, the humanoid robot was shown riding Yamaha's most sporting motorcycle. Yamaha says the Motobot is part of a research and development effort to get a robotic rider to ride an unmodified motorcycle around a racetrack. The complex task of controlling a high-speed motorcycle on a racetrack requires a high degree of accuracy. Yamaha hopes to eventually use that technology to make safety systems for motorcycles that are similar to stability control and crash avoidance systems in cars.
