PITTSBURGH,None — The four WPIAL high school football championship games will take place at Heinz Field on Saturday.
In the WPIAL AAAA match-up, the undefeated and defending WPIAL and PIAA champion North Allegheny Tigers will take on the Upper St. Clair Panthers. The Panthers' only loss this year was to North Allegheny. The Tigers beat the Gateway Gators 21-17 in the semifinals to advance to the big game. Upper St. Clair beat Central Catholic 28-14 last week. The championship game starts at 8 p.m.
The WPIAL AAA title game will feature Montour and Knoch. Knoch is undefeated this season, and Montour has two losses. Montour beat Central Valley, the 2010 WPIAL champs, 21-14 in the semifinal game. Knoch beat Franklin Regional 9-7. The championship game starts at 2 p.m.
Aliquippa will take on Jeannette in the WPIAL AA championship game at 5 p.m. Aliquippa shut out Greensburg Central Catholic last week, 35-0. Jeannette had a big win over Seton LaSalle, 40-21. Both teams are undefeated.
The first game of the day (WPIAL A) kicks off at 11 a.m. and features Sto-Rox and Clairton. Powerhouse Clairton is coming off three consecutive WPIAL championships and two consecutive PIAA championships. The Bears beat an always good Rochester team 43-7 in the semifinals to advance to the championship game. Sto-Rox won a close-one against Bishop Canevin, 12-10. Both Aliquippa and Clairton are undefeated.
