New pierogi, food options, features at PNC Park this season

PITTSBURGH — Are you planning to catch at Pirates game at PNC Park this summer? If so, you'll see a lot of new food and beverage options, and a new pierogi racing through the outfield.

During a media tour Thursday, the team unveiled its upgrades for the 2017 season.

Pizza Penny is the newest competitor in the Great Pierogi Race during all home games. She'll suit up against favorites like Sauerkraut Saul, Cheese Chester Jalapeno Hannah, Oliver Onion and Bacon Burt.

There are new places to eat throughout the stadium. The Market will offer hot food stations, grab-and-go sandwiches, salads and snacks. The new Miller Lite Crow's Nest is located in the fight field plaza and will be open before and during home games. Also new this year is the Rivertowne Brewing Hall of Fame Club, where fans can enjoy Rivertowne beers and food.

The scoreboard in the Roberto Clemente Wall in right field is getting an upgrade. It will now be a full LED videoboard display, replacing the old lightbulb-based scoreboard. New lights were also added to the park's seven light towers.

The netting behind home plate has been extended to stretch to the far end of each dugout.
