Report: Steelers won’t hold training camp at St. Vincent this year

PITTSBURGH — It looks like the Steelers won’t be holding their annual training camp at St. Vincent in Latrobe this year.

According to Adam Schefter, NFL teams have been told that training camps need to take place at their team facilities. For the Steelers, that would mean their Southside training center.

St. Vincent has hosted the Steelers and Steeler Nation for training camp since 1965.

Channel 11 reached out to the Steelers who said they have not received anything official from the league.

On Wednesday, Channel 11 asked leaders at Saint Vincent College about it and they sent the following response:

“We will certainly miss having the Pittsburgh Steelers on campus this summer, as has been the tradition for the past 54 years. As we all continue to deal with the pandemic, we understand the National Football League’s decision that requires teams to hold training camp at their own facilities. We look forward to the Steelers and Steelers Nation returning to campus next summer and we pray for the health, safety and success of the entire organization as they prepare for the upcoming season.”
