He’s back! Evgeni Malkin to make season debut with Penguins after offseason surgery, recovery

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Ladies and gentlemen: Evgeni Malkin is back on the ice.

After undergoing offseason knee surgery and recovering since last June, Malkin is set to make his season debut with a hot Penguins team. He’ll take the ice as the Pens take on the Anaheim Ducks as part of West Coast road trip.

Malkin’s issues began when he injured the knee nearly a year ago in an on-ice collision with a Bruins defenseman. He had to watch from the sidelines most of the final six weeks of the regular season and Stanley Cup Playoffs. He underwent surgery in June and started skating again with teammates in late November.
