Pittsburgh weather: Dry spell reaches 13 straight days

PITTSBURGH — We have seen no rain across the area for 13 straight days, as of Friday.

The last time we had measurable rain was Oct. 16. It was nearly three-quarters of an inch.

Believe it or not, as wet as we were in August and the first half of September, this two-week spell with no rain has actually put part of our area north of I-80 into the abnormally dry range on the U.S. Drought Monitor.

What that means is it’s not quite drought conditions yet, but we’re heading in that direction in northern Venango County and northern Forest County.

Of course, there’s not much rain in the forecast over the next five or six days.
