Food Bank, South Hills Interfaith Movement hosting food distribution event Saturday

PITTSBURGH — The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and South Hills Interfaith Movement are holding a drive-up food distribution event on Saturday June 20 in Bethel Park.

The event will take place at Bethel Park High School on Church Road from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

11 Cares partner Dollar Bank will have volunteers there, helping with the drive.

Each vehicle will receive one food share, which is at least 50 pounds of food. The food includes dry goods, frozen foods and a box of canned goods – which should last about a week to 10 days.

The Food Bank said it will be able to serve 1,000 vehicles during Saturday’s event.

People attending Saturday’s event are asked to arrive promptly at 11 a.m. Everyone must also follow these guidelines:

  • People attending the distribution must stay in their vehicles at all times.
  • After pulling into “distribution row”, put your vehicle in park and unlock your trunk or backseat for food to be loaded. Volunteers will not load food into vehicles until they are in park.
  • Attendees will not be required to fill out a registration form in order to receive food.

If you can’t make the event on Saturday and you are in need of assistance, you can contact your local food pantry or the Food Bank for information.
