NEW YORK — A 26-year-old man is in police custody after he reportedly tackled pro wrestling icon Bret "The Hitman" Hart at Saturday's WWE Hall of Fame ceremony in New York.
According to The Associated Press, the WWE star was speaking from the podium at Barclays Center when the man rushed into the ring and pushed Hart to the ground. Several onlookers, including fellow wrestler Dash Wilder and ex-UFC fighter Travis Browne, rushed in to restrain the attacker, ESPN reported.

The suspect, whose name has not been released, is "facing criminal charges," the AP reported.
WWE issued a statement about the incident late Saturday.
"An over-exuberant fan surpassed our security at ringside and made his way briefly into the ring," the statement read, according to ESPN. "The individual has been turned over to the proper authorities."
