ALIQUIPPA, Pa.,None — A Beaver County couple is facing several charges, including endangering the welfare of children, after two toddlers were discovered living in what police describe as "deplorable" conditions.
Police were called to the Aliquippa apartment last month after receiving a report of a drug overdose. There, police said they found a 2-year-old boy and a 1-year-old girl covered in dirt and eating spoiled food.
Summons' were issued to the children's parents, Lauren Shea and Gregory Schaper this week.
Aliquippa Police Capt. Doug Edgall said the house was filthy, dishes and bugs were everywhere, and the children were eating spoiled food.
"It's sad because these kids have no choice," Edgall said. "They can't fend for themselves."
The toddlers are now staying with relatives.
