PITTSBURGH — A suspect in a shooting this week outside the TGI Friday’s in Monroeville was taken into custody on Thursday.
Damian Addison, of Wilmerding, is charged with aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.
Police with guns drawn surrounded the car on Cherry Way on Thursday and questioned two women who were inside the car. Investigators said the women led them to Addison, who was in his attorney’s office nearby. Soon after, members of the Allegheny County Sheriff's Department Fugitive Task Force entered the building and took Addison into custody.
As he was being led away in handcuffs, Addison said, "Make sure I look good for the cameras. Here I go."
Investigators said Addison worked as a cook at the Monroeville restaurant. On Tuesday night, police said Addison shot and wounded a man in the leg outside of the restaurant. Police said the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute, and that the victim is Addison's ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend.
According to his defense attorney, Milhail Pappas, Addison was acting in self defense. Pappas said the alleged victim had threatened Addison on social media, and the man was highly intoxicated when he came to Addison's workplace. The alleged victim brought as many as six other people with him to TGI Friday's, Pappas said.
Police said the victim went to the bathroom and Addison was right behind him, firing four shots. As a convicted felon, Addition is not legally allowed to carry a gun.
Pappas said he is "still getting to know my client. That's something we are looking at as well."
Addison was convicted on a gun charge in 2011. The victim in this week's case was shot in the leg and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Addison was arraigned before a district justice on Thursday and taken to the Allegheny County Jail.
