McKeesport mom claims son went to hospital after teacher put hands on him

MCKEESPORT, Pa. — A child was taken to the hospital earlier this week after getting hurt at school.

But there are two very different stories about how he got these injuries.

A McKeesport woman told Channel 11 she got a call on Tuesday, the third day of school this year, that her son may need to go to the emergency room and she says not enough was done in the school.

David is a seventh-grader at East End Academy.

His mom, Kristy Harff, said she got a call Tuesday about this massive bump on his head.

TRENDING NOW:

“Stating that he might need to be seen at the ER; he has a lump on his head,” Harff said.

She shared pictures with Channel 11 of the hospital visit and says her son told her a teacher slammed him to the ground.

“The teacher should've never put his hands on him,” Harff said.

But the school district told Channel 11 something different.

A spokesperson sent a statement that reads in part, "It has been determined that a student inadvertently fell while outside of the classroom."

But the boy's mother and other sources tell us it happened in a classroom and that's why there's no surveillance video.

“It was he-said, she-said,” Harff said.

The boy's head is still swollen a few days later.

Channel 11 confirmed that police investigated the incident, but no charges were filed.

“Very frustrating,” his mother said. “He has half of a softball-size lump on his head. He don't want to return to that school at all. It's horrible that a child has to go through this at school.”

Harff says she is weighing what she will do next.
