BRIDGEVILLE, Pa.,None — A Bridgeville woman talked with Channel 11 News after she said a bear has been hanging around on her property recently.
Mary Ann Rotella said the Pennsylvania Game Commission has set up a trap near her Patterson Avenue home in hopes of catching the black bear.
Officials said the trap will remain on the property for about a week unless the bear is caught sooner.
"When local residents say, 'Oh my god, there's a bear there,' the bear is probably saying the same thing, 'Oh my god there's people here,'" said Gary Fujak of the PA Game Commission.
Fujak said the black bear has been spotted in Bridgeville and South Fayette. He said it's likely searching for food.
"Traditionally the bait of choice is donuts because we can get those easily. This time we are using bird seed," Fujak said.
