PITTSBURGH,None — A 4-year-old Marshall-Shadeland is recovering after two pit bulls attacked him Saturday afternoon.
Police said Kiante Clark was at a playground at the corner of Marshall and California avenues when he was attacked.
"Kiante's whole underarm is gone. ... He has a hole in the side. The back of his legs are bit up to his private part. On the side of his head is bit up," said Kiante's mother, Tawana Clark.
Two Good Samaritans helped save Clark from the attack, police said. Erica Peters and Misse Marian made a wrong turn and ended up in the right place at the right time.
"A kid came running towards us, and we almost hit him," said Clark. "So, we looked at where he was running, and we saw a little boy pinned up against the fence by two dogs and then went to the ground. So, we ramped my car onto the sidewalk and started running."
"I got down on the ground and huddled around the baby, and she was pulling on the collar, and I tried punching it in the face to try and get it off him," said Marian.
Kiante remains in Children's Hospital.
Animal Control officers quarantined the dogs for 10 days.
