Atria’s and Juniper Grill to delay reopening despite expiration of state shutdown order

PITTSBURGH — Pat McDonnell and the rest of the management of two of Pittsburgh’s best-established restaurant chains are delaying their reopening after the end of Pennsylvania’s three-week emergency shutdown in reaction to Covid-19.

Despite the shutdown’s expiration on Monday, January 4, Atria’s and Juniper Grill will remain closed until Monday, January 18. Restaurant Holdings LP owns both chains, operating five Atria’s locations in the region along with three Juniper Grills.

The company is delaying the reopening of the restaurants citing challenges of managing inventory coming off three weeks of being forced closed at the end of December by order of Gov. Tom Wolf and rebuilding inventory during a traditional lull period after the new year.
