PITTSBURGH — Butler Health System is laying off 57 employees, will furlough 10 others and plans to close its skilled nursing facility, casualties of the fiscal crisis that is hitting Pennsylvania hospitals due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The furloughs and layoffs will be across the health system, which includes Butler Memorial Hospital and Clarion Hospital. It also said that it would eliminate 60 vacant positions.

There were no further details immediately available about the pending closing of the transitional care facility.
