PITTSBURGH — Three of Greater Pittsburgh’s universities have ranked among Pennsylvania’s best-value colleges.
That’s according to financial planning website SmartAsset’s sixth annual ranking of the state’s best-value colleges. Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Pittsburgh and Grove City College all made the cut in its Top 10 Best Value Colleges in Pennsylvania for 2019. CMU is the state’s highest-ranked university at No. 1, while Pitt came in at No. 8 and Grove City came in at No. 9.
Methodology influencing each school’s placement on the list include starting postgraduate salary, tuition costs, living expenses, student retention rates and scholarships awarded on a per-person basis. Those factors were weighted and compared against peer institutions to illustrate students’ return on investment.
