PITTSBURGH — St. Louis-based McCormack Baron Salazar has closed on financing with the City of Pittsburgh and the Housing Authority of Pittsburgh to redevelop the former historic Larimer School in the East End into mixed-income housing units. The developer will also build additional housing units nearby, with construction for all units expected to be completed by fall 2022.

“A vibrant and diverse community, the Larimer Neighborhood has struggled in the recent past,” Vincent R. Bennett, president and CEO of McCormack Baron Salazar, said in a release. “We’re thrilled that restored Larimer School can serve as a bridge between the neighborhood’s vibrant past and its promising future.”

Once completed, the school building will be transformed into 35 units. Its gymnasium and auditorium will be repurposed into commercial space.
