Oakland’s next biggest apartment development on the Pittsburgh Planning Commission agenda

PITTSBURGH — Another major development projected is poised to move forward soon in Oakland.

After presenting the plan to the community in August, Chicago-based CA Ventures is on the agenda to brief the Pittsburgh Planning Commission to present a plan to replace what was a Marathon gas station at 3500 Forbes Avenue with a new 10-story apartment building expected to also include first-floor commercial space on Tuesday.

In a stretch of Oakland in which new tall building projects have often been met with community resistance, CA Ventures seeks build a structure that will total 102 feet. The firm expects the height to be within zoning limits by employing a density bonus for green building in what’s expected to be a LEED-certified development.
