Playoffs in Pittsburgh: What hosting the Stanley Cup playoffs could look like for the city

PITTSBURGH — Could Pittsburgh play in and also host the Stanley Cup playoffs? It's a situation the NHL is currently considering.

On Wednesday, the league announced the Steel City was selected as a finalist to host Stanley Cup playoff games following a competitive bid from the Penguins, a team that is not only excited to host the games but is also, under the new playoff format, entitled to play in them once matches can resume.
