Sammy’s Famous Corned Beef to end 35-year run downtown

PITTSBURGH — In the wake of a pandemic that is motivating plenty of change in the local restaurant business, Sammy’s Famous Corned Beef announced on social media that it will be ending its 35-year run at the corner of 9th Street and Liberty Avenue downtown.

The restaurant announced on its Facebook account that it will close for good on March 25.

The restaurant posted: “We thank the city of Pittsburgh for its patronage over the years and hope you can come in and visit for a sandwich, a beer and some good laughs before we close next week.”
