PITTSBURGH — Several Pittsburgh-area companies have made the top 500 lists for America’s Best Employers in 2022, published by Forbes.

The lists are compiled using data that Forbes collects in partnership with market research company Statista. Statista surveyed 60,000 Americans who work at companies with over 1,000 employees. Companies were divided into two categories, those with over 5,000 employees and those with between 1,000 and 5,000. Companies included on the lists spanned across all industries.

The survey was conducted anonymously, and respondents rated their employers on a scale of one to 10 as to how likely they would be to recommend their company as an employer. They also rated their companies on factors like working conditions, diversity, equity and inclusion, development opportunities and compensation.

Here are some of the Pittsburgh-area companies that cracked the top 500 for America’s Best Large Employers:

  • Sheetz: Altoona-headquartered convenience store chain Sheetz Inc. came in at spot No. 183. The company operates 630 stores and has over 20,000 employees.
  • University of Pittsburgh: The university, with its main campus in Oakland, came in at spot No. 212 and has over 14,000 employees.
