PITTSBURGH — The YWCA of Greater Pittsburgh announced today that it has closed on selling its 60-year-old headquarters building on Wood Street downtown to City Club Apartments.

The sale price for the building at 305 Wood St. is $4 million, according to the announcement.

Angela Reynolds, CEO of YWCA Greater Pittsburgh, said of the sale in a prepared statement:

“For over 150 years, the YWCA of Greater Pittsburgh has continually adapted to meet the needs of women and families. Though we are saying goodbye to a piece of our history today, we know that using our resources strategically in the service of race and gender equity is the best way to honor the women who came before us.”

The sale is expected to make way for the first residential tower to be built in the downtown core in decades.
