City still working on flood cleanup after Friday's storm

PITTSBURGH — City crews are still working to clean up after Friday’s storm caused flooding problems around Pittsburgh.

Public Works officials announced Monday that the Lemington Extension will be closed from Highland Drive to Lemington Avenue until 2 p.m. Tuesday for flood cleanup.

Dirt and water got into a portion of a police station after a mudslide behind the building. The mud was cleaned up and the building was reopened the day after the heavy rain.

City officials said two of the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority’s broken storm lines caused problems on Washington Boulevard during Friday’s storm.

Crews closed one lane of Washington Boulevard while work was being done on a drain. Channel 11’s Jennifer Tomazic was told that the lane would be reopened before rush hour.

Channel 11 was told that crews opened up catch basins around the city before the next round of rain arrived on Monday.
