Couple suing country club for overserving gym teacher accused of attacking them

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Pa. — A Canon McMillan High School gym teacher accused of attacking his brother-in-law and sister-in-law in December isn’t the only one the alleged victims are holding responsible for the incident.

In court Tuesday, Channel 11 News learned the couple is suing the country club where the alleged attack occurred for overserving Timothy Mousetis.

Mousetis, who is also a former wrestling coach at Canon McMillan and Chartiers Houston, is accused of assaulting his brother-in-law and sister-in-law at the Golf Club of Washington in South Strabane Township, putting both in the hospital.

A surveillance camera captured the incident on video, but Mousetis’ defense lawyer said his client didn’t start the fight.

Police rushed to the dining area of the club on Dec. 16. An officer testified Tuesday that when he arrived, he saw a “large amount of blood streaming down the victim’s nose and cheek” and that both victims required medical attention.

The officer said the surveillance video shows Mousetis’ sister-in-law and brother-in-law dining at the club when Mousetis enters and pulls his arm back with a glass in his hand.

Witnesses said Mousetis was yelling profanities, including “Get her on a leash.”

The officer testified that Mousetis appears to throw the glass at his brother-in-law’s face and delivers two uppercut punches before the victim’s wife tries to separate the men. Mousetis reacts by grabbing her by the hair and throwing her head into a door three times before head-butting his brother-in-law, the officer said.

Mousetis’ lawyer said his client didn’t throw the first punch and that he was being scratched and his hair pulled.

The judge said it will be up to a jury to decide what happened and who is responsible.
