Dairy worker flown to hospital with severe burns

BUTLER COUNTY, Pa. — A worker at Marburger Dairy in Butler County was flown Thursday to a hospital after he was severely burned.

Channel 11's Amy Marcinkiewicz reported that the  35-year-old man suffered severe steam burns on the lower part of his body when a water line burst and water as hot as 165 degrees hit the worker.

The man was conscious and alert when he was taken to the hospital.

Marburger Dairy is located in Forward Township and delivers milk, teas and other products to stores and homes across western Pennsylvania.

The owner of Marburger Dairy told Marcinkiewicz that two of his employees were processing milk when a hot water line broke. One of the workers was unable to get away fast enough and was hit in the back with the water, which then ran down his legs. The worker’s injuries were not life-threatening.

The owner said no chemicals were involved in the accident, and a crew was called in to fix the broken waterline.

Because the accident happened at a workplace accident, Marburger Dairy’s owner believes OSHA will investigation the incident.
