PITTSBURGH — A German shepherd is in need of medical help after it was found Friday with a leather jump rope tied around its neck and shoulder.
Rocky, the dog, was found in Orchard Park and taken to VCA Northview Animal Hospital by animal control.
Rocky underwent a six-hour surgery to remove the rope, which was embedded deeply into his neck and shoulder. The dog is recovering but may need the leg amputated due to damage caused by the jump rope.
Anyone with information regarding the dog or his owners is asked to contact Northern Regional Police Department.
Donations to help pay for Rocky's medical care can be made directly to VCA Northview Animal Hospital. For more information on the "Rocky Fund" click HERE.
