Police search Pittsburgh Zoo for driver who crashed stolen car in Highland Park

PITTSBURGH — Police searched the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium early Tuesday morning after the driver of a stolen car crashed in the city’s Highland Park neighborhood, authorities said. %

The vehicle was spotted shortly after midnight by an officer near the intersection of North Negley and Penn avenues, police said. The officer attempted to pull the car over at the intersection of Stanton and North Highland avenues, but the driver sped up toward Highland Park.

Police found the car crashed near the top of Reservoir Drive. The driver was no longer inside.

A K-9 was used to help police search the nearby zoo for the driver, who was not found.
