Drug raid carried out at Murrysville auto service center

MURRYSVILLE, Pa. — Police carried out a raid at a car-service center in Westmoreland County.

Detectives executed a search at Steve’s Auto Service on Sardis Road in Murrysville, turning up guns, cocaine and marijuana.

Police said shop owner Steve Hughes and another employee, Michael Sonnie, were selling cocaine and marijuana inside the business.

"Just blends in with the community. Maybe to neighbors it looks like normal activity with the car business going on here, but obviously there's more going on here than just working on cars,” Murrysville Police Chief Thomas Seefeld said.

Authorities searched Hughes’ home on Nobb Hill and found more cocaine and money.

Neighbors said they were surprised to hear what was going on at the auto shop.

"I was just really shocked. I never thought that would happen at a car shop anyway," Antonio DiBerardino said.

Employees told Channel 11's Melanie Gillespie that they plan to finish working on the vehicles that are left, but may start looking for new employment Monday.
