VERONA, Pa. — An elementary school in Verona was placed on lockdown Thursday due to a police incident near the school.
According to a statement from the Riverview School District, Verner Elementary School was placed in what officials call an exterior lockdown shortly after 1 p.m. No one was permitted to enter or leave the building.
Parents were asked to not come to the school.
“Please be assured that the children are in safe hands and we are using this lockdown to keep them in safe hands,” the statement to parents said. “…there are no immediate risks associated with this lockdown to your children.”
Police told Channel 11 News that there was a domestic dispute in the neighborhood near the school. No arrests were made.
